Here we can see, “What Is the Hyper-V Manager and How Do I Use It?”
The Hyper-V Manager, as seen here, is used to manage Hyper-V. To begin, press the Start button, type Hyper-V, and then select Hyper-V Manager.
There are five panes in the Hyper-V Manager window:
- Navigation: Navigation panellists the Hyper-V hosts on the left side of the window, which Hyper-V refers to as virtualization servers. There is only one host listed here: a Windows machine. This pane will list all of the hosts in an enterprise environment where you have more than one.
- Virtual Machines: The virtual machines defined for the selected host are listed in this pane. Several Hyper-V virtual machines are shown in the diagram, including a pair of Linux computers, a Windows 10 machine, and a few Windows Server 2016 machines.
- Checkpoints: In Hyper-V, a checkpoint is a virtual machine’s recovery point. When you’re planning to make a change to a virtual machine, you can create a checkpoint. If something goes wrong, you can always go back to the checkpoint.
- Summary pane for virtual machines: A pane appears beneath the Checkpoints pane that displays summary information for the virtual machine selected in the Virtual Machines pane. The summary information for one of the Windows Server 2016 machines may be seen here. There are three tabs in this pane: Summary, Memory, and Networking. The RAM tab is chosen in the illustration so you can see how much memory has been assigned to the system.
- Actions: The Actions tab offers buttons that you can use to do tasks for the specified host (DOUG-2014-I7) and machine (WIN2016).
