Installation of Server Configuration Monitor

- Run the Orion Installer after downloading it.

- Accept the licensing conditions and click Next.

Finding Your Network

- After finishing the Configuration Wizard, the web console should open in a web browser. If not, type ‘http://hostnameORipaddress:port’ in the address bar. 8787 is the default.
- Create a password for the admin account, then click Save & Login.
- Go to Settings > Network Discovery in the toolbar. To discover your network, click on Add New Discovery.
- On the first page, select a network discovery method. Choose one of the four options and fill in the details. Then click Next.
- Now you’ll see the Agents page. Then click Next.
- If your devices use SNMPv3 community strings, click the Add New Credential option and fill out the form. Other than private and public, add community strings (SNMPv1 and SNMPv2) using Add New Credential. If not, click Next.
- Then, on the Windows page, select Add New Credential if you’re discovering Windows devices. Next.
- If you want to discover Windows devices, use WMI polling. You choose WMI, the wizard will prioritize WMI, then SNMP, but not ignore SNMP. If not, leave it selected and click Next.
- On the Discovery Settings page, give your discovery a name and click Next.
- Change the Frequency on the Discovery Scheduling page to execute the scan more than once. Then click Discover.
- Wait for the discovery to end.
Adding Found Devices
After the Network Sonar Wizard finishes, the Network Sonar Results Wizard appears. You can see the wizard’s detected devices here. Now to import them. How to:
- Select the devices you want to import and click Next.
- On the Volumes page, pick which volumes to watch. Then Next.
- On the Configuration Profiles page, select the profiles to monitor. Then click Next.

Enabling Real-Time File Monitoring
Server Configuration Monitor allows you to keep track of your server configurations and who made modifications. To enable this, perform these steps:
- Go to Settings > All Settings in the toolbar.
- Click Server Configuration Monitor Settings under ‘Product Specific Settings.’
- Turn on the ‘Who Made the Change’ Detection on the Polling Settings tab.
- After clicking the switch, the ‘Who Made the Change’ detection setup will appear. Click on Setup Now.
- You can disable real-time file monitoring for specific nodes. To exclude nodes from this, click Add Exclusion and then choose the node from the list.
- To enable Who Detection for all nodes, click Enable Who Detection.
SCM comes with numerous predefined profiles that you can customize to your needs. Manage profiles as follows:
- Assemble the Server Configuration Monitor Settings.
- On the Manage Profiles tab, you can view and edit predefined profiles.
- To create a new custom profile, click Add.
- Give the Profile a name, a description, and then add Configuration Elements. Then click Add.
Now you may watch the new nodes from a computer screen. Go to My Dashboard > Server Configuration > Server Configuration Summary to view the monitoring page.
