With people spending large parts of their day ahead of their laptops, desktop backgrounds serve the vital purpose of making a productive atmosphere. Having a refreshing picture to greet you each time you switch on your computer can set you off in the right direction. Today, we are getting to check out the steps you’ll follow to customize your desktop background on Chrome OS.

Chrome OS has an inbuilt wallpaper gallery with an entire lot of exciting wallpapers. To access this gallery, right-click (by manually pressing the right-click button or a two-finger tap on the touch-pad) on a space within the desktop. A sink menu will appear.

From the dropdown menu, click on Set wallpaper. A wallpaper gallery should appear on the screen.

As you’ll see on the highest panel of this gallery, the wallpapers are sorted into various categories. You’ll click on anybody of those images to line it as wallpaper. Chrome OS will download the high-resolution image and automatically set the chosen picture because of the wallpaper.

Surprise Me

On the rock bottom right corner of the gallery, there’s a Surprise Me check-box. Surprise Me may be a feature of Chrome OS that automatically changes your desktop background at regular intervals by randomly choosing a picture from the gallery. Hence, whenever you open your Chromebook, you’ll hope to be greeted by gorgeous wallpaper.

Setting a Custom Wallpaper

Chrome OS also chooses to select the wallpaper that you want for yourself outside of its wallpaper gallery. You’ll do that by clicking on Custom from the highest shelf of the gallery.

Note: you’ll only be ready to navigate to Custom if Surprise Me is unchecked.

  • Click on the box with the + check in the middle. A popup window will appear.
  • On this popup window, click on Choose File. The Files app will open, and you’ll need to navigate the image’s situation that you want to line as wallpaper. Once the painting is chosen, you’ll now select the position of your wallpaper. Next, you’ll try all three options from the dropdown menu and see the changes to your background in real-time.

Warning: One thing to remember is that this wallpaper appears on the Sign-In Screen, i.e. before you even enter your password. Hence, the wallpaper are often seen by anybody who switches on your Chromebook. So you would possibly want to take care of that.

That’s it. Plough ahead and end up with an awesome wallpaper that makes you want to spend all that point on your Chromebook.
