Fortnite 18.40 will not be released as scheduled next week

It appears that the Fortnite 18.40 release date has been postponed and that the game will not arrive this week as previously anticipated. Fortnite v18.40 will now be released a week later, on November 16, rather than the previous week, and it is expected to be the final update of Chapter 2, Season 8, before the season closes next month.

With the release of Fortnite version 18.30, which arrived at the end of October, players were greeted by the arrival of the Cube Queen – who can also be obtained for free through the completion of various missions – as well as the transformation of the centre of the island’s map into the Convergence.

Previously, it was expected that the game’s next patch, version 18.40, would be released the following week – on November 9. However, according to a reliable Fortnite leaker on Twitter, iFireMonkey, this may not be the case at this time. A previous announcement from Epic Games claimed that the new Accolades device for Fortnite content producers – which would assist players in earning more XP in Creative modes – would be included in the 18.40 update. The Accolades web page indicates that it will not be accessible until November 16, which also happens to be a Fortnite patch day.

The fact that version 18.40 is the final update of the current season, which will conclude on December 5 – at least according to the end date of the current Battle Pass – means that players will only have this month to unlock the Cube Queen and Marvel villain Carnage, amongst other things, is also worth noting. Perhaps the long-rumoured arrival of Naruto as the skin will be included in the 18.40 update, which will be released shortly after.

Of course, the most important Fortnite news right now is the appearance of Jinx, the League of Legends character, in the game to commemorate the arrival of the Arcane cartoon series, which premiered on Netflix this past weekend. It remains to be seen whether or not more Fortnite skins will follow Jinx’s lead, but we are hopeful.
